Creation Carriers is very aware of the environmental issues regarding packaging. We have made several appearances on television and local radio, championing the cause of a coherent responsible approach to the environment.
As a result of this, we make sure the paper for all of our bags and boxes is sourced from responsibly managed forests. These forests have been certified by the quality management institute (QMI) and awarded a CERTFOR Sustainable Forest Management Standard, they are also 100% recyclable into the paper chain.
In addition we have a range of films available for our polythene bags, from 100% recycled LDPE through to 70% recycled materials and compostable starch based bags. We do not agree with producing bio-degradable plastics as they disrupt the recycling process and only add to the perception that polythene bags have a single use and are “throw away” items.
We are working hard, along with the wider carrier bag industry, to reduce environmental impact to a minimum. Plastic carrier bags represent a fraction of 1% of the waste going to landfill and removing carrier bags completely barely scratches the surface of the problem. At the same time we believe it would open the door to far less environmentally friendly options.
We encourage all of our customers to have an overall change in their attitude towards reducing, reusing and recycling, as this would have a huge effect on our overall environmental impact. What better way but to use the carrier bag (one of the few readily re-usable forms of packaging) to carry such a message?
